Dr. Nise da Silveira The Most Underrated Woman in The History of Humankind !

Nise da Silveira was born in Maceió, in the northeastern state of Alagoas, Brazil, in 1905. After graduating from the Medical School of Bahia in 1926 (the only woman among 157 men), she devoted her life to psychiatry and never was in agreement with the aggressive forms of treatment of her time such as commitment to psychiatric hospitals, electroshock, insulin therapy and lobotomy. Her method was basically to treat patient which she refused to call them patients instead she called them “Clients” and called the doctor and nursing staff. The hospital ward where she was supposed to work at was dirty and in absolute mess which she arrived, she and one nurse took by their own the job of cleaning the ward to make it appropriate place to live for the clients AKA patients. It is worth mentioning that the male nurse (nurse) hired to work with her was aggressive to patients and used to abuse them and beat them not only that he refused to clean up the ward with the doctor claiming that its not his job. She managed after a while to transform this person into very kind human that treat patients with love and compassion.

After that a male nurse (Murse) who was interested in painting suggested to Dr. Nise to start bringing basic drawing instruments and let the patients draw. They first refused and acted aggressively towar this concept, she actually fought other nurses not gave patients medicine to calm them down and asked them to leave the patients be them selves only few of them refused to participate in drawings and art work, by time they all got very interested and started drawing what’s in their subconscious and one single man chose to sculpt using clay (none of the patients had art back ground) After that Dr Nise with her nursing staff started getting stray dogs for each patients, of course male doctors along with the head of the hospital refused. They claimed that dogs will bring dirt and infections to the patients although they helped patients to get better massively starting to regain their feelings of love and be loved and the dogs were kept in the outer yard/garden and was taken to vets from time to time. Eventually evil men “doctors” killed the dogs which devastated and traumatized the poor patients who were already half way cured or at least act normally (not aggressive anymore even the most dangerous one who was actually captured in isolated cell and tortured) killing the dogs made the patients conditions worse Dr Nise with her staff had to start from point zero.

Even for normal people dogs give unconditional love and compassion.

The pictures above shows the brutual ways used to treat patients back then and they are still in use for some patients.

Doctor Nise Refused to participate in aggressiveness and brutal method which never improved patients conditions actually it killed their emotions and senses. She fought 157 male doctors to stop this bullshit of treatments, and tried to convince them that her methods actually work and never gave up her dream to stop brutality treatments to stop the hospital dominated by men doctors using aggressive methods that are unproven, she even risked being fired. At the very bottom of this page I will list the reasons why did male doctors refused  and fought back to show that her methods aren’t scientifically proven.

She then came to a genius idea to arrange a gallery in Rio de Janeiro which also serves as a study and research center that collected the works produced in painting and modeling studio. Through her work, Nise da Silveira introduced the only art gallery of psychology ill people in Brazil that includes patients art works and invited one of the most respected artists and critiques, he was stunned and helped her arrange fund for the Museum of Images and art work of the Unconscious and he invited the elite people, psychiatrists and family that have patients thrown and prisoned in the wrong clinics those who suffer from cases related to unconscious and described that these art works created by the patients matches or even exceed the best artists in South America or maybe the world.

A few years later, in 1956, Nise da Silveira developed another revolutionary project for her time from the funds generated from the previous gallery, she created the “Casa das Palmeiras” (Palms House), a clinic for former patients of psychiatric institutions, where they could freely express their art and be treated as outpatients on a daily basis. She also formed the C.G. Jung Study Group, which she chaired until 1968.

Her research on occupational therapy and the understanding of the psychotic process through images of the unconscious gave origin, along the years, to exhibitions, films, documentaries, audiovisuals, courses, symposiums, publications and conferences. She was also a pioneer in researching emotional relations between patients and animals, whom she used to call co-therapists.

In recognition of her work, Nise da Silveira was awarded decorations, titles and prizes in different areas of knowledge. She was a founding member of the International Society for Psychopathological Expression headquartered in Paris, France. Her work and ideas inspired the creation of Museums, Cultural Centers and Therapeutic Institutions in Brazil and overseas. “The Casa das Palmeiras” Is still open to visitors in Rio as a museum.

Reasons why she was never awarded the Noble Prize or her story been recognized all over the world as she absolutely deserves it in my OPINION:

1. She is a woman and sexism is still practiced in every single in the world.

2. Psychiatrist Medicine industry will go bankrupt if these free drug medications was applied.

3. The so claimed psychiatrics ” AKA drug dealers ” at least some of them” who have gigantic contacts with medicine manufacturers will also go vanished. Also the want people to get hooked and addicted to their medicines for ever to make these drug dealers and manufacturers make more and more money convince people believe that they are actually sick or even crazy.

4. Most of the patients cases suffered from lack of love or separation from their loved ones and these two factors (majorly) causes trauma which can heal by time or push the patients to make them self busy through various activities like art in general or working out, taking care of a pet (specially dogs).

I am very sad for her not to receive the recognition she deserved.

DR. Nise died on October 30, 1999, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

There is a real story movie documenting her live (never edited) every thing in the movie was true. It is available on Netflix called (Nise the heart of madness) its in Portuguese you can use subtitles though. BELIEVE ME IT WORTHS EVERY SECOND.

The movie poster & trailer are below then below the a slideshow its a mix of real events/pictures and from the movie.

Chilli Beans Sunglasses Photoshoot project

DSC_7384

I am so addicted to Chilli Beans sunglasses brand, so I decided to do a personal “non-commercial project” for their sunglasses and opticals !

It’s my first time to direct a photoshoot, I hired a photographer and a model both based in Dubai. I have chosen Madinat Jumeirah as a location for the photo shoot.

unfortunately the weather and sunlight did not help at some points which forced us to edit the pictures to modify the colors of the sky and some backgrounds.

Hopefully our next project will end up being much better than this. Below is the presentation of our project.

Master & Dynamic MW60

IMG_6795

Master & Dynamic aren’t quite at the level of a Beats or a Bose in terms of brand recognition, but they’re not unknown. You can find them in the Apple store and it’s not uncommon to see someone walking along rocking this brands headphones. Their products are quickly gaining recognition as they usually pair solid sound quality with very pretty design. We recently reviewed their brass in-ears the ME05 earbuds and figured we should take a look at their newest over-ear option, the MW60s. Personally I have always been a fan of B&O BeoPlay head phones but I decided to go with Master and Dynamics this time just for a change as I loved the design and was impressed by the reviews !

IMG_1243

What’s in the box

The box that the headphones came in is less like a box, more like a secret agent briefcase complete with combination locking system. It’s a travel case made in partnership with the brand Zero Halliburton and if you want to feel extra cool, it’ll cost you a few bucks more at the point of purchase. Opening it made me feel like James Bond accepting a secret mission. Inside the briefcase you’ll get the MW60s, a carrying pouch for the headphones, a 3.5mm audio cable, micro USB charging cable, an even smaller carrying pouch, and of course, the instructions and warranty information. Thankfully it didn’t self-destruct after I removed the headphones. If you decide not to opt for the baller traveling case, the regular consumer packaging is just a simple white box with the headphones pictured on the front. Simple and classy.

IMG_1245

Unfortunately, these beautiful headphones are not without their cons. The MW60s aren’t heavy, but they’re not light. I found that a small shake of my head causes the ear cups to flip outwards, forcing the headphones off of my head. Of course you probably won’t be shaking your head too often, so it might not be too big of an issue. Still it’s worth mentioning considering the price of the MW60s. They’re not exactly the kind of headphones you’d want to replace if they slip off of your head and break.

Connectivity

The MW60s aren’t just your average pair of Bluetooth cans. They’re designed with a special antennae on the left ear cup that’s supposed to increase the standard range of 30 feet by roughly four times. Over 100 feet of range is a bold claim to make but Master & Dynamic back it up, kind of. As long as there were no walls in the way I couldn’t get these to skip if I tried, and trust me I tried.

IMG_1244

Battery Life

Master & Dynamic claim a battery life of 16 hours, but in our testing we got closer to 14 or 15. This is still a really solid battery life and will probably last the average person a good number of commutes before they’re forced to charge them back up. Keep in mind, should you find yourself low on juice you can always plug in the included audio cable and continue listening to music.

Sound Quality

Testing was mainly done on portable devices like phones and tablets, but (spoiler alert) I liked the sound so much that I also tested them on my Scarlet 2i2 audio interface just to really see what they can do.

To wrap it up

Master & Dynamic is the best headphone I have ever purchased. (I previously used B&O, Bose and Beats) there is no comparison between Master & Dynamic and any of them.

You can buy this stunning headphone for $549 by clicking on the link below.

This is Ground: MOD 2 and The Voyager Review.

img_1190

I have recently ordered a laptop case “MOD 2” , an extra organizer for the case and a bag “The Voyager” from the mad scientists of tech organization “The best description I have found for the brand This is Ground” this post is a review for both products.

This Is Ground’s Products aims to deliver a sleek and simple solution to your daily carry needs by offering elegant and easy access to your tech and small EDC. Does it deliver? We here put it to the test to find out…

For the last few months This Is Ground’s Voyager bag and the second version of their popular laptop Mod has been my pretty constant companion. Both travelled with me to work, cafes, meetings and my business/leisure trips. TIG have made absolutely Smart and stylish products that are made in LA, using materials and hardware sourced in the States. Broadly speaking the TIG Bags and mods do exactly what it says on the box – namely protect and carry the daily essentials, all the while acting as a good-looking folio/portable office.

The Voyager:

– The Voyager weekender sized bag that’ll not only store the stuff you need — but also help you get them easily without the hassle we all suffer from when we try to find particular thing in our carry-ons, The Voyager Bag from This Is Ground is a weekender-sized utility bag that comes with an integrated Karma Go WiFi unit “optional”, keeping you connected and collected at every turn. A pouch on the front, inspired by the brand’s Tech Dopp Kits, organizes all of your cords and gadgets. Inside, there’s enough room for five days of clothing. Made in Los Angeles of buttery soft leather, the Voyager is available in four color options, and — if you happen to love annoying WiFi logins at the airport — can also be purchased without the Karma Go for a little less. Though, once you get a taste of having your own good-looking WiFi network everywhere you, you’ll wonder why all your bags aren’t this smart. I tried carrying it on daily basis as a business bag and also as a weekender literally in my recent trip and it never failed.

MOD laptop 2:

If you love a good flat lay you’re going to like the Mop Laptop 2. When closed it’s got the clean lines of a traditional leather folio – but unzip the solid UCAN zip, open up the Mod and you’re in stationery organizing heaven. One side is dominated by the dedicated laptop pouch – with its protective raised lip of Buffalo Felt. There’s also a canvas-lined pocket designed for a tablet, but it works just as well for a diary or notebook.

The ‘spine’ has two Romag magnets embedded in it so you can plug and play with any of This Is Ground’s specialized carry inserts. TIG assures us that these magnets won’t affect your electronics. The other side of the Mod has three pockets, suitable for phones, glasses, hard drives, notebooks and the like. There’s also some slots for business cards and space for pens, headphones and cords.

The outside of the Mod has a clever diagonal slit pouch designed for bulkier chargers, or for things you need frequent access to. There’s also a removable leather strap which clips onto D-rings that can be hidden away should you prefer to go strapless (as I must confess I did).

However, when I looked at it as a laptop case with benefits the Mod really made sense. Diary, pens, notebook, laptop and the other essentials all went in there. So if I had meetings, or went to work in a café all I needed was the Mod. It looked good and I could access anything I needed quickly. It’s kind of like a corporate bug-out bag.

Who This is Ground carry-ons Suit

TIG goods are clearly designed for career carry, and if you’re a professional or creative type who’s looking for something above and beyond the usual laptop sleeve and bags, then their products are definitely the perfect thing for you.

Who It Doesn’t

If you’re into active gear, on a budget or simply carry lots of odd-shaped objects on a regular basis you should probably keep looking.

The Not So Good

The biggest stumbling block many will have with the TIG products is the price. For example the MOD 2 a 13-inch model is priced at $450 USD. Add in one of their modular inserts and a fancy monogram and you will end up with $500. That’s getting close to the ‘luxury’ space. The leather, while soft and with a nice grain, has scars and other blemishes, and the stitching and cutting is in places irregular. While none of these elements are deal breakers, it doesn’t live up to the glossiness of their Instagram account. It seems to me that This Is Ground is trying to straddle both the artisanal maker and mid-tier luxury market segments, and as a result their promise is compromised.

Others to Consider

One of the greatest strengths of the This Is Ground products  in general is that there’s not a whole lot like it out there. Sure, there are millions of laptop solutions and bags – something like the Hard Graft All in One Laptop Folio comes to mind, but it lacks the organized storage. Also the variety of colors TIG offers is unbeatable as other brands force you into one or two options. TIG products “the major carry-ons” come in six magnificent colors: Cognac, Bomber “over worked brown leather”, Pacific “Blue”, Toffee, Charcoal and French Grey.

Conclusion:

This Is Ground products offer plenty of function for the café workers and will certainly impress in meetings. Add to that the there’s nothing like it out their in terms of design, functionality and organization. This makes their goods irresistible for organization freaks like me, and price won’t affect your decision whether to buy any of what they offer or no. All in all the highly priced products are incomparable to high end brands when it comes to organizing your daily carried stuff.

Outdoor Art Gallery

I was walking to my car out of Toby’s Estate Cafe and saw that outstanding “according to my taste” art gallery, It’s by the artist and French teacher Kamel Faras. It is located next to Al Makan Restaurant. There is a book that explains the story behind every single painting.

If you are interested in any of his paintings his contact is:

img_6577

My favorite piece was the one below. Titled: The Masked.

There is a poem for painting explaining the story behind this masterpiece, its pretty long I am translating it in short:

Drop off your mask and reveal your true side.

No one has lived fake forever.

And here is a slideshow for all his work:

A page of My Diary

Since my handwriting sucks .. here is a translation to the hieroglyphics above “modified” :

Its bizarre how one person always falls more .. this world is a mystery !

People fall for each other then within days, weeks or even months .. one person swims out of what was once called the ocean of their love.

Leaving the other person helplessly suffocating !

Cozy Cafe Hidden in Down Town !

img_6534

I have stumbled upon a delightfully decorated and cozy coffee shop near Sama tower in Salhiya ! The shop was warm and inviting and had a great selection of coffee, as well as pastries and yogurt for breakfast. The interior has a vintage style that matched my taste. The barista provided excellent service and greeted me with a smile.

img_6525

The place is very quiet and is excellent to work or write there. There is a work station facing the street which has an ugly view. But the furniture on the work station make the street view insignificant.
