Lonely Subway Station in China

In Chongqing, China, this station subway seems abandoned in the middle of a wild nature who claimed its rightful place. However, it is a brand new station. The municipality of Chongqing, one of the four in the country, spreads on 82 000 km2, that is Austria’s surface area. In order to develop its transportation network, the city built this odd station that looks like it is closed down in spite of its modernity inside. The station has barely any visitors and offers us a surreal setting.

These houses can survive natural disasters

Japan Dome House, a modular home manufacturer, has been making and selling its styrofoam dome houses for over fifteen years, but since the April 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes, there has been a surge of interest in the company’s products.

Some readers may do a double take, as the material used for these homes is indeed styrofoam.

Polystyrene (more commonly known as styrofoam) is widely used for everything from cups and food containers to packaging material. Polystyrene is a petroleum-based product made from the styrene monomer, which is classified as a possible human carcinogen by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).

Some countries and municipalities around the world (including Taiwan and Portland, Oregon and Orange County, California in the U.S.) have also banned the use of polystyrene foam.

Nevertheless, the future of earthquake-resistant home building in Japan may very well come in the shape of domed houses built from this material.

Aso Farm Land
On April 16, 2016, a magnitude 7.0 main shock struck the city of Kumamoto in Kyushu Prefecture (following a foreshock two days earlier). The two earthquakes killed at least 49 people and injured some 3,000 others.

Many structures in Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures collapsed and caught fire, and more than 44,000 people were evacuated from their homes due to the disaster. Thousands of evacuees are still living in temporary housing.

However, among the structures that were not damaged was a small village of 480 houses at the Aso Farm Land resort, a health-themed national park built on a somma volcano, in Kyushu. Visitors to Aso Farm Land can enjoy numerous open-air hot springs and stay overnight in differently-themed accommodations.

The “Village Zone” of Aso Farm Land consists of 480 closely-packed dome-shaped houses made of a next-generation form of polystyrene foam. When the Kumamoto earthquake struck, none of these dome houses were damaged. This has has lead to a surge of interest in the technology behind their construction.

Fourth-Generation Building Material
Japan Dome House, based in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, claims that it has developed a fourth generation building material (following wood, iron, and concrete); and that its dome house has a number of characteristics that makes it superior to conventional materials and house shapes.

Using proprietary technology, it has developed an expanded polystyrene (EPS) product that is much stronger and more compact than the foam that is used for shipping material and food containers.

The company believes that its dome houses have a number of benefits. These include:

Ultra-Short Building Time

A dome house can be assembled in about a week by three or people, using modular dome pieces that weigh only about 80-kg (176 pounds).

Ultra-Low Cost
The company says that the total construction cost of a basic dome house is between ¥7 million and ¥8 million ($68,700 and $78,500) for a house with a floor space of about 36-sqm (387-sqft) and a ceiling height of 3 meters (9.8 feet).

Highly Earthquake Resistant
Because of its dome shape, the lack of a need for posts and beams in construction, and its extremely light weight the dome house is highly earthquake resistant.

Ultra-Thermal Insulating

Expanded polystyrene also has very high thermal insulating properties. This combined with the dome shape (which allows air to circulate by convection and prevents it from accumulating in corners) makes the dome house highly energy-saving.

Highly Durable
Polystyrene also does not rust or rot and is not subject to termite infestation. After assembly, the walls of the Dome House are also coated with fire retardant making the houses fireproof.

The dome shape of the house also makes it resistant to high winds.

Antioxidant Building Construction
The company also claims that its houses are healthy to live in because an anti-oxidant solution is kneaded into the polystyrene foam building material. Formaldehyde is also not used in the construction process which means that Japan Dome Houses do not suffer from “sick-house” syndrome.

Certification
The Dome House and the company’s specially developed polystyrene foam have also been certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Tourism and Industry as being compliant with national building codes.

Customizable Dome Houses
Japan Dome House has developed a number of modular parts for its dome houses, which makes them highly customizable.

The company says its dome houses are used around Japan not only as residences but also as small hotels, steam rooms, temples and churches, child care centers and educational facilities and even karaoke bars. Because they can be quickly assembled there is also growing interest in using them as temporary housing for evacuees from natural disasters.

Step 4
For this particular photo, the “Chrome” filter was best option to show more detail of the wood grain.

Step 5
After applying this filter the photo looks a little dark. To adjust the brightness, you can go into the slider controls and select the “Light” arrow.

Step 6
Once you’re in the “Light” editing area you can increase the Brilliance, Brightness and Contrast of the photo. I was pretty happy with the results!

New Basketball Court by Pigalle with Nike

The Parisian studio Pigalle is behind a new basketball court in Paris sponsored by Nike. This new design replace the first one. After red, yellow and blue colors and geometric shapes, the studio chose gradients on walls and on the ground with geometry. French photographer Alex Penfornis shot this new creation. Even though I not a basketball fan but this is so BEAUTIFUL and I  would die to have one in my own house .. look at the masterpiece in the below slideshow.

Dr. Nise da Silveira The Most Underrated Woman in The History of Humankind !

Nise da Silveira was born in Maceió, in the northeastern state of Alagoas, Brazil, in 1905. After graduating from the Medical School of Bahia in 1926 (the only woman among 157 men), she devoted her life to psychiatry and never was in agreement with the aggressive forms of treatment of her time such as commitment to psychiatric hospitals, electroshock, insulin therapy and lobotomy. Her method was basically to treat patient which she refused to call them patients instead she called them “Clients” and called the doctor and nursing staff. The hospital ward where she was supposed to work at was dirty and in absolute mess which she arrived, she and one nurse took by their own the job of cleaning the ward to make it appropriate place to live for the clients AKA patients. It is worth mentioning that the male nurse (nurse) hired to work with her was aggressive to patients and used to abuse them and beat them not only that he refused to clean up the ward with the doctor claiming that its not his job. She managed after a while to transform this person into very kind human that treat patients with love and compassion.

After that a male nurse (Murse) who was interested in painting suggested to Dr. Nise to start bringing basic drawing instruments and let the patients draw. They first refused and acted aggressively towar this concept, she actually fought other nurses not gave patients medicine to calm them down and asked them to leave the patients be them selves only few of them refused to participate in drawings and art work, by time they all got very interested and started drawing what’s in their subconscious and one single man chose to sculpt using clay (none of the patients had art back ground) After that Dr Nise with her nursing staff started getting stray dogs for each patients, of course male doctors along with the head of the hospital refused. They claimed that dogs will bring dirt and infections to the patients although they helped patients to get better massively starting to regain their feelings of love and be loved and the dogs were kept in the outer yard/garden and was taken to vets from time to time. Eventually evil men “doctors” killed the dogs which devastated and traumatized the poor patients who were already half way cured or at least act normally (not aggressive anymore even the most dangerous one who was actually captured in isolated cell and tortured) killing the dogs made the patients conditions worse Dr Nise with her staff had to start from point zero.

Even for normal people dogs give unconditional love and compassion.

The pictures above shows the brutual ways used to treat patients back then and they are still in use for some patients.

Doctor Nise Refused to participate in aggressiveness and brutal method which never improved patients conditions actually it killed their emotions and senses. She fought 157 male doctors to stop this bullshit of treatments, and tried to convince them that her methods actually work and never gave up her dream to stop brutality treatments to stop the hospital dominated by men doctors using aggressive methods that are unproven, she even risked being fired. At the very bottom of this page I will list the reasons why did male doctors refused  and fought back to show that her methods aren’t scientifically proven.

She then came to a genius idea to arrange a gallery in Rio de Janeiro which also serves as a study and research center that collected the works produced in painting and modeling studio. Through her work, Nise da Silveira introduced the only art gallery of psychology ill people in Brazil that includes patients art works and invited one of the most respected artists and critiques, he was stunned and helped her arrange fund for the Museum of Images and art work of the Unconscious and he invited the elite people, psychiatrists and family that have patients thrown and prisoned in the wrong clinics those who suffer from cases related to unconscious and described that these art works created by the patients matches or even exceed the best artists in South America or maybe the world.

A few years later, in 1956, Nise da Silveira developed another revolutionary project for her time from the funds generated from the previous gallery, she created the “Casa das Palmeiras” (Palms House), a clinic for former patients of psychiatric institutions, where they could freely express their art and be treated as outpatients on a daily basis. She also formed the C.G. Jung Study Group, which she chaired until 1968.

Her research on occupational therapy and the understanding of the psychotic process through images of the unconscious gave origin, along the years, to exhibitions, films, documentaries, audiovisuals, courses, symposiums, publications and conferences. She was also a pioneer in researching emotional relations between patients and animals, whom she used to call co-therapists.

In recognition of her work, Nise da Silveira was awarded decorations, titles and prizes in different areas of knowledge. She was a founding member of the International Society for Psychopathological Expression headquartered in Paris, France. Her work and ideas inspired the creation of Museums, Cultural Centers and Therapeutic Institutions in Brazil and overseas. “The Casa das Palmeiras” Is still open to visitors in Rio as a museum.

Reasons why she was never awarded the Noble Prize or her story been recognized all over the world as she absolutely deserves it in my OPINION:

1. She is a woman and sexism is still practiced in every single in the world.

2. Psychiatrist Medicine industry will go bankrupt if these free drug medications was applied.

3. The so claimed psychiatrics ” AKA drug dealers ” at least some of them” who have gigantic contacts with medicine manufacturers will also go vanished. Also the want people to get hooked and addicted to their medicines for ever to make these drug dealers and manufacturers make more and more money convince people believe that they are actually sick or even crazy.

4. Most of the patients cases suffered from lack of love or separation from their loved ones and these two factors (majorly) causes trauma which can heal by time or push the patients to make them self busy through various activities like art in general or working out, taking care of a pet (specially dogs).

I am very sad for her not to receive the recognition she deserved.

DR. Nise died on October 30, 1999, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

There is a real story movie documenting her live (never edited) every thing in the movie was true. It is available on Netflix called (Nise the heart of madness) its in Portuguese you can use subtitles though. BELIEVE ME IT WORTHS EVERY SECOND.

The movie poster & trailer are below then below the a slideshow its a mix of real events/pictures and from the movie.

A Venice, California Home Wrapped in Computer Cut Flowers

Located in Venice, California, 4016 Tivoli is a residence that boasts lots of personality with a 3,000 square foot facade of metallic, computer-cut flowers. Reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s oversized flower pattern, the house is the brainchild of Electroland architect Cameron McNall who looked to his California childhood for inspiration. The colorful house was designed for his family as kind of a living experience that reflected his love of art, architecture, and design. The house is clad in Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) that was designed in CAD and cut using CNC technology.

The facade not only brings an art component to its curb appeal, it creates cool light patterns from either side you view it.

The house features four bedrooms (plus a flex room) and four and a half bathrooms, each with a bold tile color. In addition, the home was built to LA’s “Green Building” stands (Calgreen 2013) and includes two high-efficiency heating/cooling units, double-pane thermal low-E windows and doors, LED lights, low VOC paints and adhesives, low-flow toilets, rain barrels, permeable pavers, eco-compliant insulation, and EV vehicle 100-amp Tesla quick-charging capability.

Rainbows are actually circules not arcs 🌈

It’s possible to see the whole circle of a rainbow – but sky conditions have to be just right. Plus you have to be up high.

When sunlight and raindrops combine to make a rainbow, they can make a whole circle of light in the sky. But it’s a very rare sight. Sky conditions have to be just right for this, and even if they are, the bottom part of a full-circle rainbow is usually blocked by your horizon. That’s why we see rainbows not as circles, but as arcs across our sky.

When you see a rainbow, notice the height of the sun. It helps determine how much of an arc you’ll see. The lower the sun, the higher the top of the rainbow. If you could get up high enough, you’d see that some rainbows continue below the horizon seen from closer to sea-level. Mountain climbers sometimes see more of a full-circle rainbow, though even a high mountain isn’t high enough to show you the whole circle.
Pilots do sometimes report seeing genuine full-circle rainbows. They’d be tough to see out the small windows we passengers look through, but pilots have a much better view from up front.

Restaurant Review: The Best Food I’ve Ever Had

Located in the most stunning place in the UAE (Dubai) Folly by Nick & Scott is a modern international cuisine fine dinning restaurant delivering inventive and at times unfamiliar flavours using fresh ingredients that will make your tongue bud dance in happiness !

The picture below shows the brief story of of how the owners was involved in designing the interior.

I found about it randomly on instagram and judging from their terrace I immediately decided to celebrate my birthday there. As I am obsessed with terraces. My whole impression was amazing, I always judge restaurants by a bunch of factors (Quality of food, Interior, Terrace and facilities, cleanliness and atmosphere). Folly had it all ! Anyone who lives in Dubai or visiting and didn’t had a meal in Folly in my opinion just missed the best place in Dubai.

As a person who appreciates food a lot I have been crushing through different restaurants all day I was still pretty full at this point, so I decided to order their tasting menu and two appetizers to share, to at least get a feel for the menu and what they had to offer. After my first bite to the first dish of appetizers whcih was a Boiled Octupus Soacked in lemon and butter I knew that this is the place that I would eat at everyday anytime !

The tasting menus is shown below signed by every single employee in the place as a greetings for my birthday which was so sweet of them ! Never happened to me in any other place.

Every single dish in that menu was spectacular I never imagined that there would be anything like that to eat ! The balance of ingredients and the fusion of cuisines are what making this restaurant incomparable to any other at least to those I have been to, and they are A LOT. It’s even without exaggeration better than all the Michelin Stars rated restaurants I have been to.

I am really out of word to descirebe how awesome was the experience, the staff was amazing every single one of them greeted us with a smile.

Folly Restaurant is located in Madinat Jumeirah Dubai.
