The Tallest Arch Dam In Russia

The Chirkey Dam is is the tallest arch dam in Russia. It is located on the Sulak River, Dagestan. The main purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power production and it supports a 1,000 MW power station. Construction on the dam began in 1964, the first generator was operational by 1974, the last in 1976 while the project was complete in 1978.

It is situated in a seismic area. Installation work was accomplished due to three cable cranes with load-carrtying ability of 25 tons. By the way, it was the first time that they applied cable cranes at underpouring the body of the dam.
They had to blast the rocks to block the river. Over 65,000 m3 of rock fell down as a result of a 37-ton explosion. The dam is 232.5 m tall and 338 m long.

What Goes Around .. Comes Around – 10 Minutes Read

One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her.

Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn’t look safe; he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was those chills which only fear can put in you. He said, “I’m here to help you, ma’am. Why don’t you wait in the car where it’s warm? By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson.”

Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt.
As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him. She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through. She couldn’t thank him enough for coming to her aid.

Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. The lady asked how much she owed him. Any amount would have been all right with her. She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped. Bryan never thought twice about being paid. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty, who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.

She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped. Bryan never thought twice about being paid. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty, who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.
He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, “And think of me.”
He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight.

A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn’t erase. The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Bryan.

After the lady finished her meal, she paid with a hundred dollar bill. The waitress quickly went to get change for her hundred dollar bill, but the old lady had slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. The waitress wondered where the lady could be. Then she noticed something written on the napkin.

There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote: “You don’t owe me anything. I have been there too. Somebody once helped me out, the way I’m helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you.”Under the napkin were four more $100 bills.

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written. How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard….
She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, “Everything’s going to be all right. I love you, Bryan Anderson.”

There is an old saying  …..

The Tree Pub

Tourists have started to flock to this unusual tree in Limpopo, South Africa, not because this tree just might be one of the largest and oldest living things on the planet, but because there is always a frosty brew waiting for those who come inside.

This bar in the trunk of a Baobab has been created in a huge 72ft high tree in this garden in Limpopo.
The age of that Baobab Tree is around 6,000 years – roughly older than the Pyramids of Giza-Egypt. When Baobabs are about 1,000 years old they begin to hollow naturally and it’s within this hollow.

The Most Beautiful Oases Of The World

Oasis is an isolated area of vegetation in a desert, typically surrounding a spring or similar water source. Oases also provide habitat for animals and even humans if the area is big enough.

The Following list makes up the most beautiful oases on our planet:

Huacachina Oasis

Huacachina is a village in the Ica Region, in southwestern Peru. Huacachina is built around a small natural lake in the desert. Called the “oasis of America,” it serves as a resort for local families from the nearby city of Ica, and increasingly as an attraction for tourists drawn by the sports of sand boarding and taking dune buggy rides on sand dunes that stretch several hundred feet high.

Erg Awbari Oasis

Umm Al-Maa, which means Mother of Water, is one of the biggest lakes situated in the oasis. It is located deep within the sandy dunes of the Ubari Sand Sea hidden in the Libyan Sahara. There are 16 more lakes in the surrounding area. Some of them vanish from time to time but some exist constantly in the embrace of the desert. This salt lake is a famous trade center for the local people. While the water gets dirty, salt levels are becoming larger and even the same as in the Dead Sea, which makes swimming there quite easy.

Maranhao Oasis

This beautiful desert lake is located in Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, Maranhao, Brazil. Formed as part of a freshwater lake system that comes from rain during the first six months of each year and then will gradually evaporate and the water next year will rise again. In some of these lakes, there are palm trees, while others are just barren.

Chebika Oasis

Chebika is a part of the collection of stunning oases in northern Tunisian mountain chain. Less famous than the rest of them, Chebika offers perhaps the most unforgettable view you have ever seen or experienced. This beautiful oasis is probably the widest one in the world. Eventually the oasis’ name has been taken from one of the famous characters – Chewbacca because it is where Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was shot. So, in the heart of the mountains and sands there is a small oasis with a blue crystal lake and a small waterfall that will leave you breathless.
