6 Genuine Cyborg Technologies

Just how much of the human body can you replace or augment: seemingly everything apart from the tadpole like remnants of the brain and spinal chord.

Bionic eyes, ears, hearts, lungs, kidneys, livers, hands, feets, legs, arms and skin are now real science rather than concept designs. For this list, I have gathered together few real devices including commercially available products rather than concept designs or imagery that appeal based on gimmick value. The one exception is the tooth and ear cellphone implant which is feasible today.

An interesting idea is how the notion of a cyborg might change (often imagined as fusion of mechanical and electronic technology with human biology), since many of these devices use technology that is itself principally biological, such as stem cell lines in the bioreactor liver or artificial skin.

2. Artificial heart

Buenos Aires Creates Time Capsule for 2210

The city government in the Argentine capital has launched a project to create a “time capsule” with messages for people living 200 years later.

Citizens of the capital have been invited to send via internet till Oct 8 a message that will be seen on May 25, 2210, when the capsule is opened.

Aiming to be the first collective, open and public archive in Argentina, the project will gather statements from residents and celebrities of the capital city in many formats, including text, audio, image, video and multimedia.

The project was launched as part of festivities celebrating the bicentenary of a revolution in May 1810 that sparked the process that would culminate with the country’s independence in 1816.

“Citizens will be able to take part in this project either by uploading information or by participating in an interactive interview on www.capsula2210.com, an online receptacle that will serve future generations as a registry of today’s customs and experiences,” Telefonica, a Spanish telecommunications provider in South America, said in a statement.

All documents will later be copied on large-capacity high-speed optical discs that will be stored inside a titanium cylinder weighing 250 kg.

“We are building a bridge in time to communicate today’s way of life to future generations. A glance at this world of 2010 will reach 2210 as the greatest legacy of our culture. The diversity of the different individual samples will create an immensely significant close-up mosaic of an era and a society,” Hernan Lombardi, culture minister of the city government of Buenos Aires, said.

Software That Decodes Emotions Over The Phone

An Israeli company called eXaudios has developed a new computer program that can not only predict a caller’s emotional state over the phone, but may also diagnose a range of medical conditions.

The program, known as Magnify, decodes the human voice to identify a person’s emotional state.

Some U.S. companies already use the system in their call centers. eXaudios is even testing the software’s use in diagnosing medical conditions like autism, schizophrenia, heart disease and even prostate cancer.

“When agents talk with customers over the phone, they usually focus on content and not intonation, unless the customer is screaming,” Discovery News quoted Yoram Levanon, President and CEO of eXaudios, as saying.

“If a customer is screaming, you don’t need the software. But if we can identify the other emotions of a customer, we can save customers and companies money,” Levanon added.

Certain diseases have an unmistakable impact on a person”s speech. Many autistic patients require speech therapy to communicate effectively. Nearly 90 percent of Parkinson’s disease patients eventually develop some form of soft, mumbled speech.

Yoram Bonneh, an autism researcher at the Weizman Institute of Science in Israel, used the Magnify software in his work with autistic five-year-old children.

Out of 80 children – 40 previously diagnosed with autism and 40 non-autistic children – Magnify successfully identified 85 percent of the autistic kids.

In addition to autism study, eXaudios cites other research in Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, heart disease and dyslexia.

The company even has anecdotal evidence that they can diagnose prostate cancer by analyzing a person’s voice.

Personalized training centers isn’t new in Kuwait but there are many factors that give Club Fit superiority over others due to my personal opinion. For example at Fit Club each session is equivalent to one hour of personal training while at any other similar center the session makes 20 minutes only. in addition to that Club Fit have a bigger space ,more equipments than any other similar center and an amazing interior design as shown in the pictures.

My trial sessions were spectacular, to be honest I’ve never thought that such place would ever exist in Kuwait. The biggest motivation for me to subscribe at Fit Club is the staff knowledge and professionalism.

I highly recommend Fit Club Center for those who wants to workout properly.

Club Fit is located in Sharq , Abdullah Al Ahmad street, waqf Abdulaziz Albabtain Tower, Mezzanine 2. for those who doesnt know the tower it is next to Al Amiri hospital.

Five Hidden Dangers of Facebooking

An expert in online privacy has drawn attention to the five dangers of sharing information on social networking site Facebook.

Joan Goodchild, senior editor of CSO (Chief Security Officer) Online, claims marketing efforts by the company often results in a compromise on account holders’ privacy, reports CBS News.

Goodchild noted five risks of using Facebook on ‘The Early Show on Saturday Morning.’ They are:

1. Your information is being shared with third parties

2. Privacy settings revert to a less safe default mode after each redesign

3. Facebook ads may contain malware

4. Your real friends unknowingly make you vulnerable

5. Scammers are creating fake profiles

Earlier this week, 15 privacy and consumer protection organizations filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, alleging that the site manipulates privacy settings to make users personal information available for commercial use.

George the 60 Year-Old Robot

But since, unfortunately, computers were too big to provide with memory and intelligence to George, he lacked intelligence.Hence, shortly, he was stashed away in Sale’s garage, where all he did was gather dust, in Bedford.Well, this was not Sale’s first robot. He was always interested in mechanics and it was when he was 12 years old that the first ‘George’ was built out of Meccano. The Meccano manual contained the instructions for making this robot and once made, he walked by shuffling his feet at a steady pace.
George now stands at the National Museum of Computing where people can come and visit him and see George working again.

17 Previously Undiscovered Pyramids Found In Egypt

Using state of the art satellite survey equipment archaeologists have discovered 17 new pyramids in Egypt. According to infrared findings those structures include more than 1000 tombs and 3000 ancient settlements.

US Egyptologist Dr. Sarah Parcak said of the finding:

“We were very intensely doing this research for over a year. I could see the data as it was emerging, but for me the “Aha!” moment was when I could step back and look at everything that we’d found and I couldn’t believe we could locate so many sites all over Egypt.”

To find the pyramids infrared satellite imaging was used to find mud brick structures which have a different density than sand.

Parcak told the BBC:

“It just shows us how easy it is to underestimate both the size and scale of past human settlements.

“These are just the sites [close to] the surface. There are many thousands of additional sites that the Nile has covered over with silt. This is just the beginning of this kind of work.”

At least two of the pyramids have already been excavated with excellent results.
